Overview Diagram

Not to scale

  • Orient pad horizontally with 12 inch dimension as top and bottom. Keep protective tissues in place throughout process.

  • CUT 1.5” x 1.5” of each bottom corner keeping entire pad intact . (see diagram above); Measure and MARK 2.75” from either side of top edge to indicate future placement of headband.

  • Remove center pin from hole punch (if not possible, ignore those holes). PUNCH along TOP EDGE of film to get holes P1 (see diagram). FLIP film 180 degrees and punch again to get holes P2. You should now have 4 symmetrical holes along top edge.

  • PUNCH side holes, S1, positioned 3/4” from TOP edge, using the standard hole punch margin from side edge.

Step 2: Cut and Place Foam Headband

  • Cut foam tape to equal lengths of 6-1/2”. Press down at the cut line with metal cutting edge to compress foam for more precise cuts.

  • Peel off release paper and position foam headband along TOP EDGE, down slightly (1/16”) from top edge, and centered between top edge inner holes (or measure 2 -3/4” from each edge).

Step 3: Thread Shoestring and Cord Lock

  • Lay shoestring underneath plastic film/foam headband and center.

  • Thread shoestring from outside face through hole nearest foam to inside and back out again through side hole skipping extra hole in between.

  • Add cord lock fastener by threading ends through spring-loaded hole.

Step 4: Dip into Anti-Fog Solution

  • Mix 1/2 tsp dishwashing soap with 3 cups water to make anti-fogging solution. Fill baking pan only about 1/4” deep, keeping bubbles to a minimum.

  • Add paper towels to back of pan for blotting. Trick: Try raising pan up slightly at back edge to push more of the solution to the front edge.

Float INSIDE face of shield lightly over solution to coat inner surface.

  • Float INSIDE FACE of shield lightly across solution holding foam headband and shoestring to avoid wetting. Start wetting inside face from approximately 1” below foam headband to the bottom edge. Allow to drip excess solution.

  • Blot & Hang to air dry. DO NOT WIPE. Blank holes are perfect for push pins, paper clips or other hangers.

Step 5: Add Name Label and Quote (optional)

Print inside facing label with a short quote or handwritten thank you (optional).

  • Place name label on INSIDE FACE at temple below S1/side hole (see diagram above). Outside face of label remains blank for workers to write their name with marker.

  • Print inside facing label with a short quote or handwritten thank you (optional). We used the following quotes:

    • The world thanks you.

    • Good caregivers leave footprints on your heart.

    • Where there is goodness, there is hope.

    • Good people, good deeds, good planet.
